This outlines how I am now generating regular income on Fiverr and plan to make even more in 2023.
The Basics
I am not going to go over the basics of setting up gig, creating well-written text and excellent gig images. There are thousands of articles, YouTube videos out there on this. Read a few., follow the instructions on them and create your gigs. Fiverr themselves give great guidance as well.
The bad news is that even when you do this you more than likely won’t orders as there are more than likely thousands of others scrapping for space in the area you are in. So what to do?
What Fiverr Wants?
No not what you want, what Fiverr wants and needs. This shouldn’t be too hard to tell but it is simple and the following sections show how you can feed Fiverr and get work.
- Fiverr wants to make money – the 20% fee and the buyer fee keeps their system running and their employees paid. Fiverr has approximately 600 employees mostly in Israel. So orders equal good news and if your gig is chugging away generating income whether it be $0 or $1000 a month they will reward your gig with better positioning (again more on this below)
- Fiverr wants happy customers: Happy customers mean more money as happy customers buy gigs. So getting good reviews 4-5 star makes them happy and again they will “reward” your gig at some stage.
- Fiverr wants a range of skills and contractors: No matter how good your gig is, your reviews and money made Fiverr rightly wants other contractors to stay on the platform so if you are in the top of the page today there is no guarantee that you will be there tomorrow as other sellers deserve a chance.
So how to get gigs when you are just starting off (and more on how to get. gigs when things get quiet)
How to Get Buyers
This worked for me as I did all of the usual stuff and didn’t get s single gig. I think it should work for you too.
Ask people you know to buy your gig. Reach out to friends, family and ask them to sing up to Fiverr and order your gig. I suggest that you et your gig at the lowest price and explain to people that you are purely crowd sourcing activity. Do you even have to do the gig. I won’t comment on that. Also ask these people off line of course to leave solid reviews and also solid private reviews.
I did exactly that for my gig and when I got to approximately 8-10 gigs one day I got a gig request from someone outside of this group. Kaching? No it was still very cheap.
For about 10-15 more gigs I sold my work at ridiculously low prices. Shamefully low . But it had the simple goal that you should be working at all the time
- Get gigs to show volume
- Get great reviews
- Rinse and repeat
You may throw your eyes up to heaven at doing such heap work but ut helped me a lot as I streamlined my processes a ton and go a slick slick process for delivering sites super fast. For whatever you do I seriously suggest sitting down and doing these few steps below
- Outline how you do a task or deliverable.
- Automate some or all of the steps in it to reduce the time to deliver
- Look at text shortcut tools, templates, online tools for doing “stuff” fast.
FAST
A side bar here. There is no rule against doing something fast for a client once it is done well. None at all. The point above speaks to that and here are some areas I have made 3-4X faster fort my website business and not just on Fiverr.
- I have fixed templates now for footers, contact pages and blog pages or all my clients. EVeryone gets the same in the first draft. I have them stored and upload in 5-10 minutes
- I have content for 4-5 pages I created with ChatGPT so the demo sites I build I can populate with “real text”. zzztsear
